A secondary school in Dorset is the first in the UK to install training workstations in its commercial kitchen to train students.
Carford Group worked alongside Carter Community Sports College in Poole to design and install the kitchen with new cooking equipment, cold room, dishwasher and bespoke stainless steel tabling and sinks alongside existing equipment.

The school formerly used contract caterers for its school meals but has now employed its own chef/catering manager, Paul Wallington, and introduced all-new healthy eating menus.
Carford Group also fitted the kitchen with ten individual training workstations for students to gain career-based NVQs in food preparation and cooking.
Students will start at the workstations and then progress to help producing the main school meals.
The £60,000 refit - which has revamped the dining experience for staff and students alike - was achieved in conjunction with Bournemouth & Poole College and a grant from the Learning Skills Council.
Now the school can offer NVQs as a satellite site for the college, which will provide lecturers and assessors. After leaving school the students can attend the college for further career training. |
