Carford Supplies Blast Chiller to National Trust's Montacute House

 10 Jun 2002

Old met new when commercial catering equipment supplier Carford installed a high-tech blast chiller into an Elizabethan manor that does not even have electric light in all its rooms!

Ferndown-based Carford supplied the chiller for the visitor's restaurant at the National Trust's historic Montacute House in Somerset.

The unit gives chefs the ability to quickly and safely chill a freshly-cooked meal down to its required temperature until required for re-heating and serving later in the day.

Montacute House is a Elizabethan house with magnificent state rooms including a long gallery which is the largest of its type in England which are full of fine 17th- and 18th-century furniture and Elizabethan and Jacobean portraits from the National Portrait Gallery.
