Carford Group has installed a kitchen and servery counter at Norfolk Wildlife Trust's new £1m Cley Visitor Centre - which is partly powered by its own renewable energy sources. |
The site includes a wind turbine, ground source heat pump and solar thermal collectors to produce a 79% saving in energy need and reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. It also features a green roof and rainwater harvesting system for use in flushing the toilets.
Carford designed and installed an open kitchen complete with vario cookers, panini grill, combi microwave, soup well, jacket pot oven, coffee machines and grinder, dishwasher, refrigeration and racking.
It is fronted by a servery with refrigerated well and drop-in freezer unit which serves the small visitors restaurant serving up to 36 covers. |
Director of Norfolk Wildlife Trust Brendan Joyce said "Carford has been extremely helpful from early designs to complete installation. It was a challenge meeting all our requirements within a relatively small space, but Carford was patient and cooperative throughout.
| "With such a showcase nature reserve and visitor centre we demanded excellence and in that respect Carford was the right choice." |
The nature reserve at Cley Marshes, on the north Norfolk coast, was the UK's first wildlife trust nature reserve, founded in 1926. It is a bird watching 'mecca' attracting many thousands of people each year who will now be able to enjoy the new centre and restaurant.
