Carford installs easy-to-use Sally Army kitchen

The Carford Group has installed an easy-to-use kitchen for the Salvation Army in Poole.

Dorset-based Carford sourced and fitted an Angelo Po combi-oven; four-burner range; Carford air extraction and input; Carford tabling; Meiko passthrough dishwasher; Caravell refrigeration and freezer; Instanta water boiler and other units.

The New Orchard building is used and hired-out to internal and external groups, so the kitchen equipment has to be simple to operate for volunteers who may only use it occasionally, as well as being cost-effective.

Corps officer, Major Philip Mountain, said: "We have been surprised at how straightforward the equipment is. It is very user-friendly." Carford project sales manager David Jackson said: "The centre hosts walk-in meals; special events such as Christmas Day meals; 'food and fellowship' meetings and more.

But with the new kitchen, the Salvation Army hopes to increase the variety of food offered and the number of people using the building." Major Mountain added: "We are very excited because it does allow us to extend the catering aspect of our community work.

We are already catering for up to 120 people and we want to increase that substantially. "Carford has been very co-operative, both at design stage and by taking account of our various needs. It was also very proactive and came up with lots of good ideas." Poole Salvation Army now hopes to take out a service contract with Carford.
