Carford Group has installed a kitchen at Bournemouth Borough Council's new Vale Road extra care sheltered housing development for older people.

The new Vale Road project enables older people to live safely and independently at home. Support includes home care, promoting healthy living and monitoring well-being.

Around 60 flats are being refurbished and opened in stages. The development also features communal facilities including a lounge and restaurant.

The kitchen and dining area provides meals for residents unable to cook for themselves, as well as for people attending the healthcare facilities.

Up to 60 meals will be cooked by four members of staff each day at lunchtimes. At other times pre-prepared snacks are available from vending machines.

Ferndown-based Carford installed a 6-burner cooking range, combination oven, refrigeration, freezer, Carford stainless steel tabling, sinks and air intake/extraction and pass-through dishwasher, plus pots, pans, cutlery and crockery.

Irene Roig, catering officer for Bournemouth Community Care Services, said: "The new kitchen and dining facilities are great news for residents at our Vale Road development and for people using the services there.

"We've worked with Carford to create a modern, high-quality kitchen. We're now serving tasty, nutritious meals which are really going down well!'
