New Kitchen At Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and Arboretum

 28 Aug 2003

Carford Group has installed the kitchen at the new visitor and education pavilion within the Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and Arboretum near Romsey.

The new centre - approached through a unique avenue of 28 Dawn Redwood trees thought to be the only one of its kind in the world - includes a restaurant and open-air terrace, gift shop, exhibition space, classrooms, lecture theatre and laboratory.

Dick Webster of Ferndown-based Carford said: "The pavilion acts as a gateway to the gardens and is very elegant. Three separate buildings are united under one roof around an open courtyard."

"The restaurant is very popular and the kitchen we installed efficiently handles catering for high volumes of visitors."

Around 85,000 people visit the gardens each year to see more than 42,000 plants (12,500 different types) set in 180 acres. They are managed by Hampshire County.
