Dorset Blue Cheese Soup Company Launched With Help From Carford

 4 Jun 2003

Commercial catering equipment supplier Carford Group has helped equip a new Dorset company that makes soup from the famous Dorset Blue Vinny cheese.

The Dorset Blue Soup Company, based near Sturminster Newton on a farm that produces the historic cheese, has developed a range of farmhouse and gourmet soups using, wherever possible, locally-produced ingredients.

All the recipes use Woodbridge Farm's unique and award-winning Dorset Blue Vinny cheese as the base ingredient. The range includes leek 'n' potato, broccoli, celeriac, sweet potato 'n' Pear, mushroom, bacon, tomato and pea.

Owner Emily Davies said: "Our aim is to offer a fresh soup that is packed full of the flavour and feel of the countryside."

"We are very grateful to Carford for the advice they gave us during our start-up period."

Emily's father resurrected the Dorset Blue Vinny cheese in 1984 - after it had disappeared for nearly half a century - using the milk from his own herd of 200 friesian cows.
