Commercial catering equipment company Carford Group has won a national award for its installation at the Detroit Bar, London. Ferndown-based Carford was awarded the top prize in the Pub category of the prestigious CEDA (Catering Equipment Distributors Association) Grand Prix award in May for its design and installation of a stainless steel cocktail bar at the Earlham Street pub. The bar had to be built in sections because access was through an extremely narrow staircase. Marcello Alessi at Detroit Bar said: "We needed a new bar that would not only fit our unique architectural design, but would also be extremely efficient and ergonomic. The partnership with Carford was essential to the success of this project. "This is exactly what we wanted - and a little bit more! We now have the perfect bar for Detroit." Carford was also shortlisted in the top three for the Outstanding Customer Service category for its service contract with Marks & Spencer through facilities management company WS Atkins. Last year Carford was awarded the service of catering equipment at 180 Marks & Spencer stores from Harrogate to Dover, including the whole of London. Prior to Christmas, Carford undertook an additional service to ensure all equipment was health checked and has now been awarded a second 12 month contract.
