The Hiker Café
Carford has proved that it goes the extra mile, after a last-minute major change of plan while refurbishing the Hiker café at Dorset's popular Hengistbury Head.

Just a fortnight before the extensive kitchen refurbishments at the café, the local council, which owns the building, decided to install a gas line to the cafe and requested it uses gas equipment.
| So at the eleventh hour the electric appliances were swapped for gas - which was preferable to café owner Debbie Green. This was after a range of electric equipment had been especially ordered in from Italy. | ![]() |

"This was after we had ordered in all the electric equipment. So we sourced new gas units and initially fitted them with LPG gas jets to tap into a temporary supply. Later, when the mains supply was introduced, we changed the jets over to natural gas. "Debbie was over the moon about the way we got the work done. It was certainly a bit of a rush. And, of course, as we had ordered in the electrical equipment, we had to find new homes for that," David added. |
| The Hiker café needed to have a bigger and better kitchen and wash-up suite because it was attracting so many new customers, so it asked Carford to step-in and help. | ![]() |
Debbie said, "Our customers vary from tourists and walkers to local residents. Many come regularly from out of the area as well as locals and other visitors who come to the beautiful area of Hengistbury Head."

Carford supplied and fitted Falcon cooking equipment: 4-burner range, double fryer, griddle, grill and microwaves; Caravell chilled display units; Storer coldroom and fridges; Carford's own air extraction/input equipment and stainless steel fabrication; Meiko dishwasher; and other small appliances.
