No cast iron tables, no plastic or wicker chairs... and no greens in the colour scheme. This place has a modern, vibrant look that sets a new standard for garden centre chic. Waresley Park Garden Centre is privately-owned by the Baker family. They approached Carford to design and project-manage a whole new coffee shop concept that would help attract visitors to the centre. It is a destination garden centre, well away from other retailers and located in the small village of Waresley, near Cambridge. |
Steve Baker found Carford through an internet search and Cathy Wilcox followed up the initial enquiry. "I was really thrilled to find such a wonderful garden centre," said Cathy. "Steve Baker, who organised and managed the whole project, explained in detail how the modern garden centre operated, explaining about stock management and customer buying trends. A real eye opener and totally enthralling. But despite all this business acumen, what I loved about the garden centre and the family who run it, is their total commitment to customer satisfaction - very much a match with Carford and we progressed on a true partnership basis"

Cathy project-managed the installation of the catering equipment and selected colour schemes while the company installed a servery, flooring, seats and tables, light equipment and personalised chinaware. The very bright vivid colours in the restaurant are enhanced by Steve's innovative modern art pictures! |

Steve Baker said: "Cathy helped enormously with the overall design, finishes and colour schemes, I couldn't have done it without her input. And we were very happy working with Carford; the installation was excellent and finished on time. The result is great." Now the coffee bar is busy every day, serving snacks, jackets, paninis during the week and meals on Sundays. As with other garden centres which have installed a quality coffee shop, Waresley Park is enjoying a healthy return on investment and a positive all-year-round boost to its overall turnover. |
