Oxford University Press (OUP) is a department of the University of Oxford. It furthers the University's objective of excellence in research, scholarship, and education by publishing worldwide. It is the world's largest university press, has a presence in over fifty countries and publishes more than 4,500 new books a year.
This project (at OUP's main UK Distribution Centre in Corby, Northants) aimed to modernise and brighten the counter display area. This would also enable the caterers to provide more snack food and a deli sandwich bar.
The total budget (to include a new soft seating area) was £20k. This was to allow for all the work to be completed during a weekend so that the catering service would not be interrupted.
The project was undertaken in conjunction with the clients catering committee, who were involved in choosing all of the colours and finishes.
As part of the design process, Carford produced a 3D visual (shown below) - a great tool to help visualise the proposed development.

Once the final design had been agreed, the project required careful planning and management. Carford's Cathy Wilcox (Project Manager) was responsible for the successful implementation of the plan, which incorporated a wide range of tasks and services, including:

To insure that there was no disruption to operations, the new counters were installed (and the new furniture delivered) all throughout a weekend.
A bright new servery was designed, constructed and installed with no disruption to service at all. As a result, sales have increased by 30%!
