One of PricewaterhouseCoopers largest sites in London required a complete replacement floor in their kitchens, dishwash area and preparation areas. In order to do this, all of the equipment needed to be removed from site to allow contractors to complete the replacement of the flooring. However, during these works the kitchens still had to provide meals for the 600 plus staff.
The project arose after Carford won a service contract to maintain the catering equipment of PricewaterhouseCoopers twelve sites within London, Birmingham and Leeds.
In conjunction with the main contractor the project was split into a number of stages with the kitchen works being completed over 4 weekends in order to minimise disruption to the kitchen.
As areas were stripped of their equipment, the equipment was removed from site, cleaned and serviced. The equipment was then returned to site, re-installed and the next stage stripped out, serviced and cleaned.
Carford's Richard Weller (Commercial Director) and Steve Hemsil (Project Manager) oversaw the project and were on-site during the weekend works to ensure that the project ran smoothly.
Steve Hemsil stated that "PricewaterhouseCoopers could not afford any disruption to supplying meals to their staff. By being on site during the works, instant decisions could be made in order to keep disruption to a minimum".
The works were completed according to the Project programme with minimal disruption to the provision of food. Steve Hemsil explained that "Our flexibility as a company meant that we were able to provide this service at weekends to meet PricewaterhouseCoopers needs".
Xavier Brothers from Pricewaterhouse Coopers commented: "Carford's met our demands and completed their works on schedule.
There was minimal disruption to the kitchen and we appreciate the effort made by all of their employees in completing the project on time and to such a high standard".
